AVIF to JPG and more

Convert still AVIF images to JPG or transparent PNG locally. Choose the JPG background, rotate, resize and batch download. AVIF decoding depends on your browser.

Updated

Up to 12 files, 20 MB each; 60 MB total input and 60 megapixels decoded. Still images only.

90%

PPI changes print density, not pixel detail. Quality 100 is still lossy for JPG.

Source preview

Orientation is decoded by the image library. Metadata, HDR and exact color-profile appearance are not preserved. Keep originals. HEIC containers export their first decoded still image.

    Current capabilities and limits

JPG fills transparency with the selected background; PNG can retain alpha. A 320 × 240 AVIF rotated 90° and limited to 120 pixels wide becomes 120 × 160. Animated AVIF is rejected.

Choose a background before AVIF to JPG

JPG cannot retain transparent pixels. Choose the intended background color before converting an AVIF with transparency, or select PNG or WebP instead. For a 320 × 240 image, a maximum width of 160 produces 160 × 120 when the height is unrestricted. Only still AVIF is supported and input decoding depends on the browser.

    Capabilities and limits

AVIF input requires native browser decoding. Animated AVIF is rejected. Up to 12 files, 20 MB each, 60 MB total and 60 megapixels decoded. Exports keep proportions; metadata and exact color-profile appearance are not preserved.

    A FEW HELPFUL ANSWERS

    Before you get started.

Why does an AVIF lose transparency when converted to JPG?

JPG has no alpha channel. Choose a background color before exporting, or use PNG or WebP when transparency is needed. Review the converted image before downloading.

    Is my input uploaded?

Processing stays on your device. No account is required. Download your results before closing this page.

Will conversion preserve metadata and transparency?

Metadata, HDR and exact color-profile appearance are not preserved. JPG, BMP and GIF fill transparency with the chosen background. Choose PNG or WebP when transparent pixels matter, and keep the original file.
